Worked in Solomon Islands (South-West Pacific) for over six years, and with Nigel Kelaepa started the first climate change adaptation projects in the Solomon Islands. So a very practical and personal interest in climate change issues - it is already hurting people I know and love, threatening their homes and their livelihood. Also have a PhD in Philosophy and Ethics, with my dissertation on the ethics of human intervention on chaotic systems. So also a professional and philosophical interest in climate change. Put the personal and professional together and it becomes a scathing critique of the way we think. Simply put, we think the wrong way, so that our dualisms enable us to divide ourselves and our economy from the environment which sustains us all. In contrast, Pacific Islanders see everything as being one. Time, matter, spirit - all are one. This is a far healthier way of seeing the world!
