How shall we learn from the past ?
This second chapter means at having a look at the past, at the history of civilizations, at the meaning of progress, at the way we understand the notion of « transition » and « transformation ».

What are the fundamental organizing principles of human civilizations? What has allowed some civilizations to flourish while leading others to disappear? Might there be lessons which we have forgotten and now urgently need to relearn. What is it in societies that give people meaning, purpose, and happiness.  How do we find our way back.
